2012 Spring Sailing Series
Sponsored by the Bent Rudder Syndicate (BRS)
Sponsored by the Bent Rudder Syndicate (BRS)
This year BRS Is going to try to beat the heat by having the series start a little earlier so we can wrap it up before the July heat. BRS began this series as an attempt to provide racing that is mostly FUN, a way to find friendly competition, a way to improve sailing skills for those new to the sport and, a way to share good times with fellow sailors. Although this is meant to be an informal series, racing rules must apply in order to promote safety on the water. The races will start on Saturday afternoons (dates below) at 2:00 pm sharp in the vicinity of government marker 25. Please monitor VHF Ch 72 for sailing instructions and courses prior to the race start. Any small donation that you think is appropriate (per boat) is being suggested (not required) to offset the cost of the entire series.
Note: Feel free to check out our website containing race results, photo gallery, NOR, etc…

All boats must carry a VHF radio and a stopwatch.
All boats must turn in their own ELAPSED time from their own stopwatch. We do not have the ability to record a finish time for each boat. If you are unable to give us an elapsed time at the end of the race (from you own vessel's stopwatch) that you know to be accurate; YOU WILL NOT BE SCORED FOR THAT RACE. If you are not going to give an elapsed time please do not participate. (Please e-mail your elapsed time to this e-mail address the evening following the race if possible.)There will be a 3 hour time limit for the 1st boat to cross the finish line. All other boats must finish within an hour of that time to qualify for the race.
If by chance you violate a basic rule of racing, please take your penalty turns and get back in the race, all protests to be handled “On The Water” between skippers. Please remember these races are for supposed to be fun for all! Please save any cut-throat tactics for sanctioned regattas.
